Dallas Fire and Rescue fire simulation in the West End

Good Saturday morning! We wanted to let everyone know that Dallas Fire-Rescue will be simulating a fire exercise at 2100 Ross Avenue tomorrow, Sunday, May 17th. The drill is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. and should conclude no later than 1:00 p.m. Please note that fire apparatus and emergency equipment vehicles will be on site. Personnel will be conducting various training scenarios inside the building during the first couple of hours.

The DFR let us know that at approximately 11:00 a.m., the simulation will start with emergency vehicles staging on Flora Street. It is anticipated emergency vehicles will block Olive Street (between San Jacinto and Ross) and San Jacinto Street (between Olive and Pearl). At no time will smoke or fire be seen coming from the building. Nonetheless the large DFR presence could potentially result in onlookers being “interested” in what is happening.

DFR will make every effort to minimize impacts to traffic during this time. DPD will provide traffic control support. If you have any questions, please contact our publicist Marla at [email protected]
